For me it took awhile to figure out what i was going to do because i wanted to do something different. I decided that i was going to show one hand painting the other hand with nail polish because it showed the interaction of two hands. I did not use the same technique as i did as the shaded hand because i painted my hand not shaded it. My favorite part of this project was painting it because i haven't painted something in a long time. My least favorite project was the turn out. I did not like how my right hand turned out because half of my hand is dark brown while the other part of my hand is lightier.
With drawing this simple grid, I thought that the grid helped me. When I was drawing my hand with the simple grid it was good to know where i was going and where my lines would end up. With the tortillion i was able to make the hand look 3D.
My favorite part of this project was carving the block. My least favorite part of this project was drawing the picture because it took me awhile to figure out what I was drawing. The inspiration of my picture was to create a drawing about nature, so my first thought was a rain storm. If I were to do something differently I would draw a picture of a flower because I would want something settle. During this project I learned how to carve. After we drew out the picture on the linoleum block, I used the carving tool to crave out the linoleum block. Then after I took out the brayer and ink and started to roll the brayer in the ink and then stamped it. The end project surprised me when I used the ink to stamp in it.
An upside-down drawing is easier because it allows me to know what is coming next into the drawing. when you are confronted with the folding hands you're mental conflict arises which means our brain simply does not recognize the features for what they are. I liked copying Picasso's Igor Stravinsky drawing because i thought it was different drawing him upside-down. the line-style I did was connecting each line together after I pulled down the piece of paper.
One of the obstacles I faced during this 3D piece from 2D was from drawing my hand on a flat piece of paper. I started this project drawing from my 3D hand to onto a glass board. It was difficult for me because I was doing two diffferent dimensions at once. A picture plane is a metal concept. It is an imaginary transparent plane, like a framed window, always parallel to the artists eyes. drawing is copying what you see flatted on the picture plane.
